Map-based survival games were developed and in 2018, a standalone version of DayZ was released in which players can play an open-world multiplayer game where they either have to gather resources, team up, or fight others and animals. Thanks to the realistic graphics, permadeath mechanism, and the random actions of other players, DayZ has developed its audience.
